Waterbury, Connecticut Pigeon Proofing

The Basilica of the Immaculate Conception in Waterbury, Connecticut is a remarkable building with a serene statue of Mary over the entrance.  Aside from the artistic qualities of the building, it has the notable feature of being pigeon proof.  A farsighted individual built in pigeon prevention measures to make sure the statue wasn’t defaced by birds that do not respect the beautiful.

I mention this because pigeon problems can happen to all of us, even the sacred, if measures are not taken to prevent them.  Pigeon prevention is possible at any stage, and that is one of the things that wildlife control operators provide to make life in Waterbury a little nicer.

If you look at pictures of famous buildings and statues in many parts of the world you will see that they are streaked with pigeon poop.  Like many cities of its size, Waterbury has a large pigeon population. These birds reproduce rapidly, roost where they please and make a lot of poop.

Bird waste is corrosive and will damage paint, concrete and stone.  It will stain paint and other exterior surfaces.  When wet, it poses a significant slip hazard.

If you have a pigeon problem and want to control or remove the population, call us.  We have the right equipment and techniques to help.  We will evaluate the situation and recommend a plan to get rid of pigeons. Once your current population is taken away, we can put pigeon prevention measures in place to protect your property and leave it nearly as beautiful as the face of the Basilica.

We solve many types of wildlife control conflicts in Waterbury and surrounding areas. Give us a call if you need expert animal removal and/or live wildlife trapping. We can also perform an inspection of your property to evaluate the problem.

Many of the projects we solve involve raccoon families in attics and chimneys, mud swallow nests on stucco, woodpeckers drilling siding, voles and gophers destroying lawns, rats or squirrels thumping and bumping around inside walls and in attics, bat infestations, skunks stealing pet food and snakes living in crawlspaces and stone walls.

Along with physical damage and disease, wild animals also bring along disturbance and nuisance with all their noise and commotion and smell. Baby raccoons chirp and chitter like little birds; raccoons and rats will fight all night and keep people awake; skunk smell takes the cake, but have you ever smelled a dead animal in your ventilation system? We have seen much, much more than these problems, but that is a general idea of the kinds of problems that my professional wildlife removal operators and I are prepared to solve.

Not only do my technicians and I trap and remove problem wild animals, we do a lot of other dirty work, too. Don't hesitate to call us for dead animal removal, pigeon waste cleanup, bat guano removal, mouse droppings, decontamination, repairs, above ground and below ground rodent slick fencing, odor control for skunk spray, and the like. We are a full service pest control company with a wide range of animal control solutions.

I have been in the professional wildlife control business for many years. My favorite stories and experiences are removing bats from schools and churches.

For pigeon and bird control, bat removal, or relief from other pest animals, call our wildlife management experts. Many nuisance wildlife companies offer critter capture and control; our wildlife operators provide professional pest wild animal management. We remove the following AND MORE:

  • Bats from attics, eaves and belfries

  • Swallow nests from eaves, stucco, log siding, and exterior walls
  • Voles that tear and dig up lawns and destroy root systems
  • Moles and gophers that damage golf courses and gardens

"Hopeless" Raccoon Problem in Waterbury, Connecticut

Don't you just hate to wake up, sometimes? That is how I felt when my husband, Darren, announced early one morning that we had raccoons in the attic and there wasn't much we could do about it. "Why?" I said, "Can't we get rid of them?" He said no, we couldn't because they are living under the eaves where two rooflines meet and there is no way to seal it off.

Once I was fully awake I became certain that some kind of raccoon control had to be possible. I read up on various remedies recommended on the internet. People suggested putting bright lights in the space where the animals were living and it would drive them away. Our electric bill was much higher the next month, but nothing else changed.

We went through a whole list of items that people claimed would take care of raccoon removal: moth balls, loud music, predator urine, aluminum foil. The animals were still in the attic. There were now babies, too. The house was starting to smell.

I told Darren that maybe WE couldn't successfully perform a raccoon removal, but surely there was someone in the world who could. Back to the internet. (Really, how did we survive before?)

Animal Control Operators specialize in getting rid of wild animals and are trained and experienced in raccoon removal, along with a wide variety of other species. The Connecticut Department of Environmental Protection recommends these private business owners as the best equipped and prepared to get rid of raccoons or other critters.

The raccoons were removed from our attic, along with all the mess they had caused, which was considerable. It turns out that we can keep the raccoons out in the future. The technician who came to complete the raccoon removal recommended a few changes in our lifestyle and a few repairs to the house and we should be critter free in the future.
