VOLES...have eaten many of my Hostas (27 at last count) and have holes and tunnels all over my yard. I used poison down as many holes as I could find last fall, a week or so later I put pea gravel down the holes to see if there would be any "digging out".... yes they are still here in some places, but other places they have not returned.
