Hampton, Virginia has skunk problems

Hampton, Virginia wants to get rid of skunks and their smell.

Our dog was sprayed by a skunk during the night in our backyard 2 weeks ago. She came in the house and rolled on everything in sight to get rid of the odor. We have finally managed to more or less get rid of the stench, but tonight, we smelled skunk again outside. We have no idea where the skunk lives and our backyard shares a fence with 4 other property owners. We haven't seen any damage traces that would help us figure this out, but we're scared to death that this could happen again and we and the house just can't handle it another time. Suggestions? Diana G.

We just moved into a new house and our dogs have been trying to get at something under the house for a few weeks now. Well, this morning they found it. A skunk's nest and both got sprayed badly. We read about the hydrogen peroxide, baking soda, and soap mix and it seemed to clean them up pretty good. We've caged our dogs until after we get home from work, but are wondering how to get rid of this pest now. Marc L.

I was awoken by a horrible stench. We've since come to the conclusion it may have been a skunk. We have not located the exact place where he may have sprayed. But the smell is strongest on the front part of our home. We've tried several remedies, and nothing has worked! Please let me know if you can help!? Jessica W.

We solve many types of wildlife control conflicts in Hampton and surrounding areas. Give us a call if you need expert animal removal and/or live wildlife trapping. We can also perform an inspection of your property to evaluate the problem.

Many of the projects we solve involve raccoon families in attics and chimneys, mud swallow nests on stucco, woodpeckers drilling siding, voles and gophers destroying lawns, rats or squirrels thumping and bumping around inside walls and in attics, bat infestations, skunks stealing pet food and snakes living in crawlspaces and stone walls.

Along with physical damage and disease, wild animals also bring along disturbance and nuisance with all their noise and commotion and smell. Baby raccoons chirp and chitter like little birds; raccoons and rats will fight all night and keep people awake; skunk smell takes the cake, but have you ever smelled a dead animal in your ventilation system? We have seen much, much more than these problems, but that is a general idea of the kinds of problems that my professional wildlife removal operators and I are prepared to solve.

Not only do my technicians and I trap and remove problem wild animals, we do a lot of other dirty work, too. Don't hesitate to call us for dead animal removal, pigeon waste cleanup, bat guano removal, mouse droppings, decontamination, repairs, above ground and below ground rodent slick fencing, odor control for skunk spray, and the like. We are a full service pest control company with a wide range of animal control solutions.

I have been in the professional wildlife control business for many years. My favorite stories and experiences are removing bats from schools and churches.

Hampton, Virginia is home to a large Opossum population

Opossum problems are common in Hampton, Virginia.

I think we have an opossum living in our attic. We have no pets but have had a flea infestation in our home in the past couple weeks and had to call a pest company to get rid of the fleas, and they also set up some mouse traps because we have been hearing noises in the attic for some time (maybe a month or month-and-a-half). But I think some of the noises are so loud that they cannot be mice, it has to be some bigger, heavier animal. This morning we heard several loud thuds and scratching noises like claws dragging across the ceiling. The other clue is the timing - we always hear the noises at around the same time, 4 or 5 a.m. I am home during the day but I never hear anything in daytime - could it be that the opossum sleeps during the day but then goes out at night and comes back before dawn? Mark C.

My dogs have caught 2 opossums in the past week. One larger, adult opossum that escaped after being left for awhile. A baby opossum was killed by the dog last night. I don't believe that the opossums are in the house, only in the yard. Is it worthwhile to set traps to remove the opossums or should I just wait and see if they move on? Leslie L.

We have Opossum {s} in our Attic, after reading all that I could find online, I think we are in need of a trapper. There is a lot of noise every night and in the early morning hours just like I have read. I think their might even be babies, we have a very large attic and I am very concerned if they are reproducing. We had Clark out and he told us it was not rats but an Opossum, he set one of my humane cat traps but nothing was ever caught - this was over 6 months ago, now recently we have heard the noises. He checked all over the roof line and could find no entrance, can they come up the walls to the attic as we do have a few screens at the foundation level and they do have holes and are open? Tonight my niece and I both heard squeaks, really it was squeaks. Please can you help us or at least give us suggestions on what to do? Terri S.
