Loudon County, Virginia has connection to Dead Skunk
Maybe you have heard the song Dead Skunk in the Middle of the Road. What you may not know is that the song was written by Loudon Wainwright, III in 1972. Yes LOUDONI havent found the connection between the names, but the skunk part is obvious if you live in Loudon County.
If all the dead skunks were in the middle of the road you could just keep driving until you left the smell behind. But, what happens when the critter expires under your porch or in your shed? Skunk populations are on the rise in many urban and suburban areas around the United States. The reasons for the rise are not completely clear, but you can be sure that if there are more live ones, there will also be more dead ones.
We sometimes get calls because a domestic animal, usually a dog, has killed a baby skunk. The carcass is in the yard and the disgraced dog stinks besides. We are able to remove the dead skunk and help to deodorize the dog and anything else that was in the unfortunate path.
At other times it is because the animal has been trapped in a shed or down a window well or under a building in a misguided do-it-yourself attempt at skunk removal. Again, removal is both the carcasses and all the reminders that linger after.
Very occasionally, a really confused person will have attempted to poison the skunk by feeding it things I wont mention here and will have succeeded. The animal gets it revenge, though, by expiring in the least convenient place possible and leaving the person all the realities associated with dead skunk.
We prefer to work with live animals whenever possible. It is easier on the property owner, on us and on the animals, but if you do have a dead skunk and need to get rid of it, call us. We can help, wherever the creature is located.

Raccoons and rats will fight all night and keep people awake; baby raccoons chirp and chitter like little birds;

Pigeons in Loudon County, Virginia
Pigeons are a designated nuisance species by Virginia law. In Loudon County people agree that they are a nuisance, but want to know how to get rid of pigeons in the best possible way.
The nuisance designation means that pigeons can be killed without special hunting licenses and at any time of the year, but the state still has regulations on what you can\'t do when trying to get rid of pigeons.
You cannot use relocation as a non-lethal means of pigeon control. This means that you cannot catch and release the birds somewhere else. This makes sense, really, since these birds are known to make it home from release sites over 500 miles away. Plus, it is rude to try to give your nuisance to someone else who will feel the same way.
You cannot try to get rid of pigeons using poison. In fact, in Virginia mice and rats are the only critters that you can legally poison.
You cannot catch the birds by placing traps in locations that could pose a danger to people, dogs, livestock or other birds. Trap can be a very efficient way to get rid of pigeons, but you have to do it right.
You cannot set traps and leave them. All traps must be checked daily and all birds caught must be removed daily. To do otherwise is illegal, but even if it weren\'t, it is inhumane. You want to get rid of pigeons, not torture them.
Hopefully this information will help you decide how to get rid of pigeons on your property. The most effective and efficient method of pigeon removal and control is to hire a wildlife removal specialist. They know the laws here in Virginia and will make sure the job is done right.
