Tensions are high right now in Long Island when it comes to feeding feral cats and other wild animals. A proposed law would ban feeding wild animals with the intention of preventing a public nuisance that attracts vermin and rodents, or other wild animals that could carry rabies or other diseases. Feral cats, especially, seriously impact other wildlife native to an area. Some residents would like the proposal to pass, as they are worried about the songbird population, the health of their own pets, and the overpopulation of feral cats in the area. But, others are very upset, fearing that this proposal means feral cats will starve or invade dumpsters and garbage cans in search of food, and also that they won\\\'t be allowed to feed wild birds, ducks or swans in backyards or local ponds.
