Gophers Eating New Spring Roots in Palmdale, California

Every year it is inevitable that I will help many customers with gopher problems. Gophers damage thousands and thousands of dollars in vine plants each year. They eat roses, grapevines, and love to destroy gardens. They destroy plants at the roots from their tunnels under the ground.

One customer I recently helped was a young mother in Palmdale, California. This young family had just recently purchased their first home. The husband had recently graduated from the local university and started his first job. The wife stayed at home with their two small children.

One of the reasons they purchased their new home was because of the beautifully landscaped backyard and area for a small garden. The mother loved to work in her parents' yard growing up and had looked forward to having her own space to plant a garden. While the couple lived in apartments she would grow tomatoes and other small produce on their balcony, but now had planted the garden of her dreams.

Unfortunately, the plants were not doing well. She could not figure out the problem until one day she was walking near some blue delphiniums in her flowerbeds and one of the flowers just disappeared! It went straight into the ground. She watched for awhile and soon another one plopped right into a hole in the ground. She watched her long-sought-for garden and flowerbeds destroyed before her very eyes. She contacted me in hysterics and I went out as soon as I could to help her with her problem.

I told her it was not uncommon with a gopher problem for a person to be walking through their garden and suddenly see a flower just disappear into the ground. We took care of her gopher problem right away with our specialized traps and unexceptionally mixed gopher toxin.

We solve many types of wildlife control conflicts in Palmdale and surrounding areas. Give us a call if you need expert animal removal and/or live wildlife trapping. We can also perform an inspection of your property to evaluate the problem.

Many of the projects we solve involve raccoon families in attics and chimneys, mud swallow nests on stucco, woodpeckers drilling siding, voles and gophers destroying lawns, rats or squirrels thumping and bumping around inside walls and in attics, bat infestations, skunks stealing pet food and snakes living in crawlspaces and stone walls.

Along with physical damage and disease, wild animals also bring along disturbance and nuisance with all their noise and commotion and smell. Baby raccoons chirp and chitter like little birds; raccoons and rats will fight all night and keep people awake; skunk smell takes the cake, but have you ever smelled a dead animal in your ventilation system? We have seen much, much more than these problems, but that is a general idea of the kinds of problems that my professional wildlife removal operators and I are prepared to solve.

Not only do my technicians and I trap and remove problem wild animals, we do a lot of other dirty work, too. Don't hesitate to call us for dead animal removal, pigeon waste cleanup, bat guano removal, mouse droppings, decontamination, repairs, above ground and below ground rodent slick fencing, odor control for skunk spray, and the like. We are a full service pest control company with a wide range of animal control solutions.

I have been in the professional wildlife control business for many years. My favorite stories and experiences are removing bats from schools and churches.

For pigeon and bird control, bat removal, or relief from other pest animals, call our wildlife management experts. Many nuisance wildlife companies offer critter capture and control; our wildlife operators provide professional pest wild animal management. We remove the following AND MORE:

  • Bats from attics, eaves and belfries

Mud Swallows Nest on Porch in Palmdale, California

A few years ago, we had 18 mud swallows trying to build nests right above our front door under the front porch. Our home is made of stucco and they would attack us anytime we tried to use the front door. We had to go into the house through the garage or our back door! It was so frustrating. I also hated having people over because they were be bombarded by the bird squad up front.

"You'll have to go around the back," I would say. I felt like was conducting something illegal with my specific instructions on how to approach the house. It was awful.

One time, they swooped down on the poor UPS man. His brown uniform became white and brown polka-dot. They also left droppings on the poor man's face and hair. I would have laughed if I didn't know how much it hurt.

Luckily, our neighbors had had the same problem before and they referred us to a professional mud swallow removal company. They said they couldn't do anything for us if there were eggs or baby birds in the nests because they are protected under the law. However, they said as the nests were not yet complete, they could take care of the problem right away.

One of their technicians came out the next day and applied a special repellent to the area on the front porch. The repellent drove the mud swallows off and they did not return. They have not returned to this day. The technicians also removed the small beginning of nests and cleaned up the droppings on our front porch.

If I ever hear that anyone is having mud swallow problems, I tell them that you have to take care of them right away. You have to meet them at your door and say, "Sorry, you can't stay here." Otherwise, they will stay all season as they raise their young and you can't LEGALLY do anything about it until the eggs have developed into chicks and the baby birds are old enough to fly away. If you don't catch them at the right time, you'll have to get used to going in your house through your backdoor.
